What is it with people that spend so much time criticizing things on comment sections of websites? I was looking at a neat photo project today by a guy named Michael Hughes where he takes miniaturized versions of famous landmarks and places them perfectly in a photography to make this little optical illusion like the one in the image to the right. After looking at the last photo I glanced at the comments section to see that the first comment was "A man with too much time on his hands!", the second quote was "What's the point?", and the third was "More virtual-reality-Internet-art nonsense". The greatest irony of these comments is that these people are spending their time in the comments section talking about other people's wasted time. At least this guy is out in the world seeing things, and he just happens to have kind of a fun hobby that he does on the side. It isn't that much different from people who collect sand/soil from different continents. I seriously doubt this guy went to England just to take this photograph, and then turned around and went back home. But apparently he has way too much time on his hands. Like these people spend every minute of their day doing useful things. I bet the guy who wrote that comment has spent more time updating his Facebook profile than this photographer spent creating all of those photos combined. I had a similar reaction when I made my beard website (click here if you haven't seen it). When I was checking out the different sites that had links to it, the majority of them had comments along the lines of "this guy has too much time on his hands". You know, it took probably 3 minutes per day to take the photos necessary to create that site. Of course, it took some time to put it all together and design the website, and I could have easily spent that time watching sports or playing video games, but isn't making a website more productive, even if it is a little pointless?
